Special counsel John Garvey and partners Caroline Brown and Simon Adams are the key members of Lavan Legal’s Energy and Resources Team.  John Garvey has over 20 years experience in all aspects of major minerals and petroleum projects, state agreements, joint ventures, international sales and shipping of LNG, iron ore, salt and other bulk commodities, including long-term contracts of affreightment and engineering construction and project management documentation.

Our team has advised on farm-in / farm-out and joint operating documentation for Australian and foreign petroleum projects, electricity and gas sales agreements, gas transportation agreements, agreements for electricity transmission and iron ore and coal sales agreements.

Caroline Brown and Simon Adams have advised energy regulators on third party access and other regulatory issues and have been involved in a number of leading cases before the Courts and State Energy Review Tribunals, including acting for State Regulatory Authorities in disputes involving legal challenges to gas access arrangements in Western Australia and South Australia.
