Jocelyn Nicholson is a restricted practitioner in the Intellectual Property and Technology Team within the Commercial Advice and Litigation Group.

Jocelyn provides strategic advice to clients to protect their intellectual property.  She mainly advises on copyright issues, in particular within entertainment law (film and television).

Having worked as an independent producer, Jocelyn brings hands-on industry experience to the legal issues that may arise in a film or television project from conception to public release.  She has been involved in feature films (both at independent and US studio levels), television movies, documentaries and short films and is familiar with how they operate.  She has also previously worked in the legal department of Screen Australia in Sydney.

At Lavan Legal, Jocelyn also acts on a variety of commercial matters.  Prior to working at Lavan Legal, she worked in a boutique media and litigation law firm, where she was involved in advising clients on competition and consumer law, defamation, contempt of court, privacy and pre-publication matters.  She has also assisted counsel in commercial litigation matters in the Federal Court and the Supreme Court.
