Craig Wallace is a partner in the Planning, Environment and Land Compensation Team within the Property Services Group.

Craig was first admitted as a solicitor in South Africa in June 2000 before moving to England shortly thereafter.  During the course of his practice in London, Craig gained quality experience in the areas of planning, compulsory purchase and environmental law, having been involved in a number of major urban regeneration projects including the Greenwich Millennium Village and the regeneration of the town centres in Brentford, Reading, Aldershot and Salford.

Craig also provided general advice to developer and local government clients on planning applications for large mixed-use developments, negotiated and drafted planning and highways infrastructure agreements and was involved in the conduct of judicial review proceedings to the High Court, Court of Appeal and the House of Lords (as it then was).

Since moving to Western Australia in 2007, Craig has been involved in a wide range of matters for developer and resource clients, including advice on all aspects of development and sub-division approvals, environmental approvals (State and Federal) and the conduct of statutory appeals in each of these areas to the State Administrative Tribunal and the Office of the Appeals Convenor.

Craig has also advised on all aspects of the Contaminated Sites Act 2003 (WA), conducted land compensation claims (compulsory acquisition and injurious affection), has had the conduct of environmental due diligence for significant corporate transactions (mining and wind farms) and has defended prosecutions in the Magistrates Court brought under the Environmental Protection Act 1986 and the Planning and Development Act 2005.

Craig has a special interest in climate change and has advised clients on opportunities and obligations arising out of the potential climate change legislation and on all aspects of compliance with the National Greenhouse and Energy Act 2007 and the Clean Energy Legislative Package.
