Craig Wallace
Senior Associate
Craig was first admitted as a solicitor in South Africa before moving to England in July 2000. During the course of his practice in London, Craig gained quality experience in the areas of planning, compulsory purchase and environmental law having worked in central government, local government and private practice environments. Prior to emigrating to Perth Craig had been involved in a number of major urban regeneration projects (including the Greenwich Millennium Village and the regeneration or the town centres in Brentford, Reading, Aldershot and Salford) and the conduct of judicial review proceedings to the High Court, Court of Appeal and the House of Lords.
Since moving to Western Australian, Craig has been involved in a wide matters for developer and resource clients including general advice on development, building licence and environmental approvals, the conduct of statutory appeals to the State Administrative Tribunal and the Office of the Appeals Convenor, advising on all aspects of Contaminated Sites Act legislation, the conduct of environmental due diligence for corporate transactions (mining and wind farms) and defending prosecutions brought under the Environmental Protection Act 1986 and the Planning and Development Act 2005. Craig also has a special interest in Climate Change and has advised clients on all aspects of the National Greenhouse and Energy Act 2007 and the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme Bill 2009.
Craig brings to his principal area of environment and planning 10 years' practice in that area and it is this breadth of experience that enables him to quickly appreciate the wide range of legal issues that can emerge across property and resource transactions.
